I caught Liam dunking his sandwich in a cup of water today. AARRRGggghhhhh.
Remember that talk in conference about righteous traditions. That went way over our heads. We're still working on the little things.

Liam's First Birthday!
June 19, 2008.
Liam had his first birthday. I can't believe he is a year old already. I love it! It makes me so sad that he is so grown up, but he is so much fun! What a great personality he has. He is such a good natured little boy. He is always happy. He handles stressful situations really well. He loves to laugh and explore. He is great at playing by himself. He loves to read books and is loving learning to communicate. He can say: ball, apple, bird, duck, water, banana, done, up, dog, and of course, momma and dadda, sometimes daddy. Liam loves Daddy. He likes to shake his head "no" and nod, "yes." He likes to run and tackle his sister. He likes to rough house and "pretend" to bite. (he is still learning what pretend is.) He is learning to jump and today for the first time I discovered he likes to dance to techno music!
I love our happy playful little guy.
For his birthday we had a late party with just Daddy, Mommy, Julia, and Liam. We blew up some balloons and he loved to play with them. He called them "balls." You'll notice in the slideshow that he likes to sit on them. None popped.
He got blocks and a few books and some balls and some trucks and a ball pit. He kept saying, "wow!" It was great!
He really dug into his cake, but got upset when his hands ended up covered in frosting so we cleaned him up and then he was ready to go at it again! What a funny kid.

Tahoe
I'm gonna try to back date this one (haven't done that in blogger before) since we have been home for over a week now.

We spent a week at Lake Tahoe. I thought a week off work would seem like forever. (it didn't) It was nice, but we actually didn't get a lot done. We went with my family, and they all arrived sick, so we spent the first few days just sort of hanging out with everyone, and apparently contracting illness because the last few days we were sick and just sort of hung out. But it was a nice place (my parents have a timeshare condo and put us all up in a three room condo--while they stayed at a budget motel)
Lucky for you, lounging around doesn't make for great photos, so you get to just see the fun stuff we did do.
We were the first to make it to Tahoe (by pretty much a full day) So we took the long way around the lake, which is a pretty drive, and we stopped a few times on the way. Once was to play miniature golf

Julia kind of gets the idea, and every once in a while would be interested in trying to play.

Liam liked the balls, usually had one in each hand, and spent most of the rest of the time trying desperately to figure out how to grab a third while holding the other two.
But we did get him to pose for a few photos.

It was a fun little course

Lots of fun!
We all spent one nice day together at the lake. If you have never been to Lake Tahoe, it's beautiful. The lake is in the mountains, the water is clearer than glass and really cold, but on a sunny day it is really nice.
Julia doesn't really understand the common aversion to cold water. First think she was in up to her waist, and she preferred being in, at least to her ankles, for the rest of the day.

Liam of course followed, but didn't love it as much as his big sister.

He did like exploring

Eating rocks and dirt

And he loved the ducks!

He also got to ride with grandpa in a boat! That ought to be tons of fun for a little kid right?

Julia was unstoppable.
Remember that really cold water? Not going to slow here down.

She would just truck off following the coastline, if we didn't stop her so often, she probably just would have kept going till she came back from the other side.

But she would come back to play with Gary,

The greatest thing was that she actually started to feel a little sick (and cold). Em took good care of her, but the poor thing couldn't hardly breathe through her nose and her eyes were really irritated and watery. But she kept on smiling

No, seriously, that is a smile

I knew you wouldn't believe me. I got proof
I told you

We had a few more adventures, but it's late now... I'll have to backdate those stories on another day.
