smidgeon of an update

Dear Everyone,
  I apologize for not keeping up with news about Liam.  Here's a smidgen of an update:
We are one week away from being done with the Consolidation phase.  All in all, it wasn't too bad.  Liam had some really good weeks, including times when his numbers were up enough to have lots of visitors.  We had a great Thanksgiving with lots of family, even a trip out of town! (to Price, not too far, but a rarity considering I barely let him out to play outside. Its a scary world out there.  We are all becoming germophobes.)  Liam didn't have any overnight stays in the hospital, Yay!  We did have one early morning trip to the E.R. but he was able to come home within a few hours.  Since then we have many days of celebration that he didn't need to stay in the hospital.  Liam had his port surgery, that was a really bad day.  Some days are bad.  In about two weeks Liam will begin the next phase called Interim Maintenance.  Its a doozy.  He will have to be admitted every two weeks for about 3 to 4 days each.  4 admittances total. It will be about 8 weeks if Liam can handle it. Blech.  This is a yucky phase with some bad side effects that we are hoping and praying will be minimal.  Also expecting low ANC and thus possible extra hospital admittances in cases of fever.
